Best places to visit in Canada

Banff National Park

Best places to visit in Canada: Niagara Falls

One of the best places to visit in Canada is Banff National Park. Located south of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Alberta, it’s the most visited park in the country due to the beauty of its landscapes. For example, Peyto Lake is one of the most spectacular places to see in Canada and is located within it. You’ll be amazed by the surroundings, but even more so by the turquoise color of the water.

Without leaving Banff, you can also enjoy another of the must-see places in Canada: Moraine Lake. Fed by water from a glacier, this lake is also characterized by blue water that looks like it’s straight out of another planet!

The lake is surrounded by the mountains that form the Valley of the Ten Peaks. If you fancy some active sightseeing, you can rent a kayak and paddle around part of the lake. If you want to visit the lake, bear in mind these tips: it can only be done during the summer months and access is limited, so try to arrive early to avoid running out of space in the car park.

On the other hand, one of the great things to do in Canada is to climb to the top of Sulphur Mountain, something you can easily do thanks to the Banff cable car observation deck. You’ll get spectacular views of the Bow River, the park, and the town of Banff.

Other must-see spots in Baff National Park include Mirror Lake, Lake Agnes, Bow Lake, and its glacier, Johnson Lake and Lake Minnewanka. If money is no object, spend a few nights at the Banff Springs Hotel, a luxury hotel in the Rocky Mountains with a hot spring perfect for relaxing after a day full of excitement.

Toronto and the CN Tower

Best places to visit in Canada: Toronto and the CN Tower.

Canada is a country known for its natural provincial parks, but you’ll also enjoy its cities. Toronto is one of our favorites and one we recommend you don’t miss if you’re visiting Canada. And the Canada’s National Tower, the CN Tower, is a must in the city, would you dare to do the Edge Walk?

After getting your bearings in the city, Toronto offers some interesting places to see in Canada, such as the Art Gallery of Ontario and Casa Loma. The latter is an imposing mansion, a copy of Balmoral Castle in Scotland, which the magnate Henry Mill Pellatt built at the beginning of the 20th century.

Niagara Fall

Best places to visit in Canada: Niagara Falls

As one of the most important waterfalls on the planet, Niagara Falls needs little introduction. So be sure to include it on your list of places to see in Canada. Although you can visit from both the Canadian side and the American side of the lake, most travelers agree that the views from Canada are far more impressive. You better watch it for yourself and decide!🤣

Of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls, the most beautiful is said to be Horseshoe Falls. It is so named because of its horseshoe shape, 671 meters wide.

Jasper National Park

Best places to visit in Canada: Jasper National Park.

If you plan to visit both Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, on the way from one to the other you’ll cross one of the most beautiful roads of your travels: the Icefields Parkway. They are beautiful scenic drives!

At the end of the Parkway, you’ll be welcomed by one of the country’s most beautiful national parks, where you can spot grizzly bears, gaze at the mighty Athabasca Glacier or enjoy the turquoise-colored scenery of Maligne Lake, sheltered by mountains and glaciers.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Best places to visit in Canada: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.

Are you an adrenaline junkie? Then you can’t miss one of the most famous places to visit in Canada, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, located in the forest of the same name. It’s a set of suspension bridges, including the Capilano Bridge, a 127-meter bridge that swings over the Capilano River. Although its current construction is much safer than the original wooden one, crossing it is still a somewhat terrifying experience.

Located just 30 minutes from Vancouver, the park offers a great experience if you’re traveling with friends. You’ll find forests, lakes, redwood tunnels, and wooden skywalks for a great day out in nature.

💪Are you into extreme sports? Maybe you should try Bungee Jumping!

Vancouver

Best places to visit in Canada: Vancouver.

Vancouver is located on the west coast of Canada and is a very pleasant city. Not surprisingly, it appears from time to time on the lists of cities with the highest quality of life. We have included it in our list of places to visit in Canada not only for this reason but also because it’s home to one of the most beautiful parks in the country.

Stanley Park is situated on a peninsula that offers great views of downtown Vancouver and the bay. You can spend a whole morning walking or cycling through it, as you’re sure to stop more than once to take pictures of the scenery. If you’re in the city in summer and the weather is sunny, you’ll be in for a real treat as many residents sunbathe on the small beaches that form on the west side of the park.

Other places to see in Vancouver include Granville Street, the financial center with buildings such as Canada Place, Gastown, and Granville Island.

Ottawa

Best places to visit in Canada: Ottawa

If you’re thinking about what to visit in Canada, we recommend you pay some attention to the country’s capital. Ottawa is located on the banks of the Ottawa River and is home to more than a million people. It’s the political center of the country and is noted for its beautiful architecture, as well as several art galleries and museums such as Laurier House, the National Arts Center, and the Canadian War Museum.

The most interesting area of Ottawa and one of Canada’s landmarks is Parliament Hill. This is where the country’s most important government buildings are located. Set in an enchanting natural setting, it is well worth a stroll to admire them.

Alternatively, we also recommend a walk along the Rideau Canal or Rideau Waterway. This is the 202-kilometer-long part of a river that connects Ottawa to Lake Ontario. A World Heritage Site, it’s the oldest canal in North America and is still in use today. In spring and summer, you’ll see lots of boats cruising along it, but in winter it becomes the world’s longest ski slope, with almost 8 kilometers of skiable terrain.

Quebec City

Best places to visit in Canada: Quebec.

If we had to choose between one of the cities to visit in Canada, we would choose Quebec. Most French Canadian cities have a lot of charm, and we encourage you to dedicate at least one day of your trip to it. The city belonged to France from 1532 to 1763, so you’ll notice the European influence in many parts of the city.

Discover its historic center, divided between the upper town, Haute Ville, and the lower town, Petite Champlain. The area around Place Royale is perhaps the most picturesque and the one we recommend you explore the most.

One of Canada’s most interesting sights is located in the heart of downtown Quebec. The Château Frontenac is a hotel built in the 19th century and is the symbol of the city. You can visit the interior, but perhaps the best way to see it is from one of Quebec’s viewpoints, such as the Citadel or the Observatoire de la Capitale, located in the Marie-Guyart building.

Emerald Lake

Best places to visit in Canada: Emerald Lake.

Yoho National Park, located in British Columbia, is another must-see in Canada. As soon as you arrive, you’ll know why it’s known as the ‘mirror of Canada’. Its calm, crystal-clear waters make it easy to see President Range, Mount Burgess, and Wapta Mountain.

The best time to visit is during the summer when the lake’s colors tend to be more beautiful, and it’s much more pleasant to walk the 31.6900 miles circular route around the lake. Other interesting trails include the Yoho Pass (which leads to Yoho Lake), the Emerald Basin, and the one that takes you to Takakkaw Falls, the most impressive waterfalls in the park.

And if you’re lucky enough to stay around the lake, it’s possible to see the northern lights at sunset!
