Different organizations, actions, and platforms are currently fighting to eradicate the scenarios described above but, in that sense, celebrities also wield great power (and have an intrinsic responsibility) when they talk about their identity, orientation, or gender expression.
One of the examples that served as a turning point for millennials was that of Miley Cyrus when she identified as gender-fluid and spoke out about her sexual orientation, which is pansexuality. Miley is a great activist and, through her foundation, “The Happy Hippie Foundation”, she has helped thousands of minors from the collective who were kicked out of their homes by their families and had nowhere to sleep or go for help.
Like her, other famous people, such as Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, and, lately, Elliot Page (he identified as a trans man) and Demi Lovato (he spoke about his non-binary gender) are great examples. Not forgetting Kristen Stewart, who kissed her fiancée Dylan Meyer on the red carpet of the Oscars, which marked a before and after, because it happened at a very turbulent social and political moment in the United States, due to Florida’s retrograde ‘Don’t say gay’ law.
Jojo Siwa, on the other hand, is one of the new references for the Z generation. With her recent ‘coming out’ explaining that she is pansexual, she reached many teenagers and has become a prescriber at the age of 19.
