THE BEST GAY PRIDE PARADES IN THE WORLD: 2023

Copenhagen Pride Parade

In 2023, Copenhagen Pride celebration is set to throw down its annual week-long Pride shindig to honor and celebrate equality and diversity. The party started on February 20th and run through to February 25th with the Winter Pride event. 

Then on August 19th, the Copenhagen Pride Parade will take place with an opening ceremony on Ophelia Square. City Hall Square in the heart of Copenhagen will be transformed into a super impressive village for all the Copenhagen 2023 attendees to come together and hang out for the entire week.

Madrid Pride Parade

Madrid is the place to be from June 23rd to July 2nd, 2023 if you’re ready to party and celebrate 50 years of LGBTQ+ liberation! Madrid Pride, also known as MADO, is a week-long celebration featuring open-air concerts, parties, art, culture, and sports all happening in Chueca, the famous gay neighborhood in the heart of the city. 

But the real showstopper is the Pride Parade on July 1st, which is expected to draw in a massive crowd of over 2 million people! The parade will start at Atocha Station and end at Plaza de Colón, where there will be a huge stage and even bigger energy, with music, dancing, and a reading of the Freedom, inclusion, and Diversity Manifesto. New York City LGBTQ Pride Parade

Get ready for a full month of rainbow celebrations in New York City in June 2023! With over 50 events and 3 million people expected to attend, NYC Pride is one of the biggest LGBTQIA+ gatherings in the world. Heritage of Pride, the nonprofit behind the event, has been organizing the city’s official Pride events since 1969 when the first march was held to commemorate the Stonewall Riots.

The annual civil rights demonstration has since grown to encompass the fight against AIDS and to remember those who have been lost to illness, violence, and neglect. The NYC Pride Parade, a highlight of the month-long celebration, will start at 26th Street & 5th Ave and end at 23rd Street & 7th Ave. Don’t miss this iconic, world-famous event!

Paris Pride Parade

Experience a week of non-stop parties with your friends at Le Marais, Paris’ gay district, culminating in the Marche des Fiertés LGBTQ (Paris Gay Pride Parade) on June 24, 2023. 

This historic event was born in the 80s when a group of locals from the community united to fight for LGBTQ+ rights. The procession starts at 2 pm at Place de la Concorde in front of the National Assembly and travels through Châtelet, Le Marais, Pont de Sully, and Bastille before concluding with a massive (and free!) party at Place de la République.

Berlin Pride Parade 

Berlin Pride, also known as CSD (Christopher Street Day), is a renowned event in Germany that celebrates LGBTQ+ equality and self-determination. The event has been taking place in Berlin since 1979 and today, more than a million people attend every year. 

The festivities include official club nights in Kreuzberg and queer film screenings across the city. On Saturday, the parade starts at 12 pm from Kurfürstendamm and ends at 2 pm at Brandenburger Tor. After the parade, a massive Pride party will take place to close the night and conclude the CSD celebrations. The date for Berlin Pride is yet to be announced!

WorldPride Montréal / Montréal Pride 

Montreal will host its annual Montréal Pride Festival, also known as Festival Fierté Montréal, from August 3rd to August 13th, 2023. Founded in 2007 by the city’s sexual and gender diversity communities, this festival is the largest French-speaking Pride event worldwide. 

It attracts more than 2 million visitors, locals, and internationals over two weeks of community, cultural, and celebratory activities, including free shows, panels, the Community Day, and the famous Pride Parade, making it one of the most diverse and massive events in Montreal.

The parade, covering a distance of 2.7 km, will link the old and new areas of the city’s LGBTQ+ sector, starting from Metcalfe Street and ending on Alexandre-DeSève Street, at the heart of the new Gay Village. Montréal Pride Festival aims to support and promote local communities while being a beacon of hope for people worldwide fighting against injustice.

Taipei Pride Parade

Taipei Pride is the largest LGBTQ+ event in Taiwan, attracting over 80,000 people from all over the world for a week of festivities. The highlight of the week is the Taipei Pride Parade, which takes place on October 28th and features three different routes through the streets of Taipei. 

The parade starts at Kaidagelan Blvd and culminates in a massive party in the Gay Village. With so much to see and do, be sure to bring plenty of energy to keep up with the excitement!

Buenos Aires Pride Parade 

In November, Buenos Aires holds its largest celebration of diversity, which includes a week of LGBT events and the annual Pride parade. The festivities take place at multiple locations, with the parade being the highlight of the week. 

The parade follows a route along Avenida de Mayo, one of the city’s most significant avenues, from the Casa Rosada, the headquarters of the Argentine national government in Plaza de Mayo, to the National Congress building. Following the parade, speeches, music, and dancing continue outside the Congress building and last well into the evening. The celebrations continue on buses, trains, and in bars and nightclubs throughout the city.

Amsterdam Pride Parade 

Amsterdam Pride is a major and distinctive Pride event that takes place annually. It is highlighted by street parties throughout the weekend and the renowned Canal Parade that passes through Amsterdam’s UNESCO canals. 

The boats depart from the Scheepvaart museum in the eastern part of the city center and continue towards the Amstel River before proceeding along the Prinsengracht to the Westerdok. 

The Canal Parade commences around 12:30 pm and concludes in the late afternoon. After the parade, street parties commence around 4 pm at locations such as Amstelveld (which is next to the route), the main stage on Dam Square, and Rembrandtplein. In addition to Pride, Amsterdam’s foremost music venues and clubs will hold parties throughout the night!

London Pride Parade

London Pride, taking place from June 30 to July 2, 2023, is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community that focuses on inclusivity and diversity. This year’s theme, #PrideJubilee, honors the past fifty years of activism, protests, and achievements that have shaped the movement. 

The parade starts at 12 pm at Portland Place and follows a route that includes Oxford Circus, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, and Whitehall, with the festivities lasting until around 5:30 pm. Spectators are advised to avoid crowded areas and London Pride encourages everyone to attend and show their support.
