Today we talk about Ricardo Rousselot, jury of our contest and master of lettering design! Surely, you might know who he is!
RICARDO ROUSSELOT
Ricardo Rousselot (Chaco, Argentina, 1936) is a calligrapher and graphic designer. He belongs to a generation of Argentine designers who settled in Barcelona during the 1970s, contributing significantly to the renewal of design in Catalonia and Spain.
Considered one of the great masters of calligraphy of the late 20th century, Rousselot is an internationally renowned graphic designer. He has been invited by numerous universities to teach classes, workshops, and lectures and has authored articles on design, typography, and calligraphy. Nominated for the “National Design Awards” in 2001 and 2003, recognizing outstanding professional careers in design in Spain.
Fascinated by drawing and calligraphy from a young age, Rousselot worked in leading studios and agencies in Buenos Aires in the early 1960s before relocating to Chicago in 1962, where he deepened his knowledge of calligraphy and typography.
In 1975, Rousselot established his design agency, creating visual identities for brands such as El Corte Inglés, La Casera, Smoking Paper, and many more. He has been a member of “Design for the World”, BCD, ADG/FAD, and an honorary member of the Graphic Designers Association of Catalonia.
