We have reached that fantastic time of year when popular Christmas songs and carols begin to sound. Today, in this article we want to discover the best songs of Christmas to listen to during the holidays.

We want to start this new post by making a ranking of the 10 best Christmas songs of all time, although we will surely leave many great songs out.
Happy Christmas
The first song we want to highlight is John Lennon’s Happy Christmas. The first time John Lennon recorded this song was in 1969 to protest the Vietnam War. Years later, in 1971 he re-recorded the same song that recreated a popular song called Skewbald. With this new version, he managed to make this song one of the most listened to songs at Christmas.
Christmas (baby please come home)
Thanks to the contribution of Darlene Love with “Christmas (baby please come home)”, this song became one of the best works of A Christmas gift for you, the album by Phil spector, which is considered to be one of the best albums of songs about Christmas ever made.
Winter Wonderland
Elvis managed to make this song a success in 1966 despite the fact that the first version was recorded by Richard Himber. Winter Wonderland was composed in 1934 by Felix Bernard, a composer who was inspired by Central Park in New York after a day of Christmas and snow.
The little drummer boy
The most popular version of this Czech song is the one of Bing Crosby and David Bowie who performed it for a television special in 1977.
Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
As in many of the other songs that we have discussed, Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas did not become popular until 1957 when Frank Sinatra recorded a Christmas album in which he included this song with some series of modifications. From this moment on, Sinatra turned this song into a hit and a classic of Christmas songs.
Christmas times is here again
The next song of our Top 10 best Christmas songs of all time, is “Christmas times is here again” by The Beatles. In case you didn’t know, since 1963 the Beatles sent an exclusive Christmas song to their fan club. The last one was in 1967 and was titled “Christmas times is here again”, which has become a masterpiece that many other artists cover.
Santa Claus is coming to town
“Santa Claus is coming to town” is possibly one of the best songs ever made and also one of the most covered. Specifically, it was written for an Eddie Cantor radio program in 1934. Later, it was recorded by Fred Astaire for television and in 1975 it was sung by Bruce Springsteen, who managed to elevate the song even more.
Thank God it’s Christmas
Another song we want to include in this top 10 Christmas song is “Thank God it’s Christmas” by Queen. Despite drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist, Brian May had to convince Freddy Mercury to record the song.
Santa Baby
Another song that we want to highlight is Santa Baby. Although we recommend the Madonna version because it is the most famous version and the one that has been heard the most, it is important to note that it was written by Joan Javit and the first time it was recorded was in 1953 by Eartha Kitt. Another artist who has covered this song, apart from Madonna, is Kylie Minogue, among others.
All I want for Christmas is you
We could not fail to include in this list one of the most famous Christmas songs in all of history. And indeed, we are talking about the song “All I Want for Christmas is you” by Mariah Carey which has become a hymn for Christmas.

Another song that we want to include in this short list of great Christmas classics is “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. It was recorded and released in 1963 by singer Andy Williams who decided to include this song on his first exclusive album for Christmas.
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
We could say that Let it Snow! is the king of the classics because currently the vast majority of people, if not everyone, knows this song and would know how to sing it. This Frank Sinatra song was not included on his original Christmas album and therefore appeared on an updated compilation album.
Blue Christmas
Although in the top 10 we already commented on an Elvis song, we cannot forget the song Blue Christmas which, thanks to Elvis Presley, became another Christmas classic and its version is the best known of this song.
Jingle Bells
Jingle Bells has become another of the great classics of Christmas songs and the jazz version, performed by Ella Fitzgerald, has made this song sound at each of the Christmas parties.
Merry Christmas
Finally, we want to highlight the song “Feliz Navidad” by the Puerto Rican singer José Feliciano. We wanted to include it on this list because thanks to its simple lyrics in both Spanish and English, it has become one of the best bilingual Christmas songs.

I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas
The first song we want to highlight is “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” and specifically, the version by Kasey Musgraves since it is one of the best known. It was written by John Rox and originally performed by Gayla Peevey. In 1953 the song reached number 24 on the Billboard hit chart.
Christmas Tree
The next song we want to include in this short list is Christmas Tree. It is a song by singer Lady Gaga, in collaboration with British DJ and producer Space Cowboy. It’s an electropop song Christmas written by Lady Gaga and Rob Fusari.
We Wish you a Merry Christmas
It can be considered that We Wish you a Merry Christmas is another of the great Christmas classics that everyone knows and it has become the song that makes everyone happy. It is a song by an unknown author that comes from the West Country of England, although over the years it has become popular all over the world.
Last Christmas
The next popular Christmas song we want to discuss is Last Christmas. This is a song by the British duo Wham! and it was written by George Michael when he was still part of the group. The song was released through Epic Records on December 3, 1984, and was the single from Music from the Edge of Heaven, the British duo’s last studio album in 1986.
Baby, it’s cold outside
Finally, we want to highlight the song Baby, it’s cold outside. It is a 1944 song with music and lyrics by composer Frank Loesser and was used for the 1949 film Neptune’s Daughter. This song won the Oscar for best original song of the year.
Joy to the World
One of the songs that we should include in this section of Christmas Carol Songs is Joy to the World since it has become one of the most sung and also most popular Christmas carols of all time.
We Three Kings
The next carol we want to comment on is We Three King which was written by John Henry Hopkins in 1857. He wrote them as a new Christmas play and many versions of this song have been composed making it become even more like a popular Christmas carol.
Oh Christmas Tree
Finally, we want to highlight the song Oh Christmas Tree, this is a German Christmas song of which many translations and also versions have been made. It is important to note that when this song was made it was not related to the Christmas tree and it was not until the middle of the 19th century that it was sung as a Christmas carol.
