PLANET OF THE APES 2024: RELEASE DATE, CAST AND MORE

The fourth installment in the latest round of The Planet of the Apes series, titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is set to hit the screens in 2024. This movie will follow the events several years after War for the Planet of the Apes in 2017.

In the upcoming flick, the smart simian descendants of Caesar are still grappling with the challenges of establishing themselves as the top species on Earth. On the flip side, humans have taken a nosedive into a primal, animalistic existence, resembling the characters from the 1968 original film featuring Charlton Heston that kickstarted the initial The Planet of the Apes franchise.

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding the next Planet of the Apes movie, especially since it’s the first time Andy Serkis (Gollum from The Lord of the Rings) isn’t part of the cast. Fans are eager to see what direction the franchise takes without Serkis, who has been the focal point of every reboot so far. Kingdom will not only delve into the continuation of the narrative without him but will also explore the legacy of his character in the intelligent ape society.

The fourth Planet of the Apes movie will be a litmus test for the rebooted series, but all indications, including remarks from Andy Serkis himself, suggest that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes could be one of the most robust entries to date!

Latest Updates on “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes”

The freshest details on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes surfaced on November 2, 2023, as 20th Century Studios unveiled the much-anticipated first trailer.

This sneak peek into the upcoming Planet of the Apes movie lays the groundwork for the storyline, revealing that it unfolds many generations after the era of Caesar, Cornelius, and the emerging simian society depicted in 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes.

The trailer also introduces us to Noa, the protagonist of the forthcoming chapter in the Planet of the Apes reboot series, and the nefarious Proximus Caesar, a tyrant governing a coastal ape settlement with a distorted interpretation of Caesar’s teachings.

Confirmation of the film!

The much-anticipated movie, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” has been officially confirmed. The confirmation came in 2019.

Matt Reeves, the director behind the initial three films in the revamped Planet of the Apes trilogy, had been discussing the possibility of a Planet of the Apes 4 as early as 2016.

The project’s discussion resurfaced around the release of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. Disney officially confirmed “Kingdom” in 2019 following their acquisition of 20th Century Studios.

Importantly, it was revealed that the storyline of the upcoming Planet of the Apes movie wouldn’t entail another reboot. Disney also disclosed in 2022 that “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” might mark the beginning of a trilogy, implying that the rebooted franchise could extend to a sixth installment.

Release Date for “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes”

The highly-anticipated film, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024. Disney has strategically chosen Memorial Day weekend for the release, historically a successful period for theater debuts, indicating a high level of confidence in the movie.

While it remains uncertain when “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” will be available for streaming, expectations are that it will eventually make its way to Disney+.

Cast of “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes”

The majority of the cast for “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” has been disclosed.

However, the specific roles played by actors such as Owen Teague, Freya Allan, and William H. Macy are yet to be revealed by Disney and 20th Century Studios. Confirmed characters in the movie include Noa, Mae, Proximus Caesar, and Raka.

The cast of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” features a diverse ensemble of talented actors, each portraying unique characters in the captivating narrative. Here’s a breakdown of the confirmed cast:

Serkis played Caesar, the pioneering ape with self-awareness and the central figure in the reboot trilogy. His exclusion from the upcoming film surprised many fans who anticipated his return, even in a flashback capacity.

Despite not being part of the cast, Andy Serkis has expressed his support for “Planet of the Apes 4.”

In a March 2023 interview with Cinemablend, Serkis praised the film, stating that director Wes Ball’s vision is set to “blow people’s minds.” He commended the conceptual artwork and the chosen direction for the story, emphasizing that the next chapter is a worthy successor to the preceding trilogy.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” Story

While the complete plot of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” isn’t yet revealed, some details about the basic premise have been teased. The film is set decades after “War for the Planet of the Apes,” where Caesar sacrifices himself to save his tribe and defeat a human army. At the end, Maurice the Orangutan promises that Caesar’s son will know his father’s name.

It takes place in a world where humanity has been largely wiped out by the simian flu. Multiple ape societies have emerged, each interpreting Caesar’s teachings differently. Some communities distort Caesar’s ideas, enslaving other apes and any remaining humans. Noa, the central ape hero, resides in one such society ruled by the tyrannical Proximus Caesar.

The plot follows Noa as he teams up with Mae, a feral human woman, and together they attempt to escape from the oppressive community.

In a world where the echoes of Caesar’s legacy resonate, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ promises a thrilling tale of survival, rebellion, and the enduring quest for freedom.
