If we recently talked in an article about the 10 best beaches in Mallorca, in today’s post, we want to recommend to you another of the best islands in Spain such as Gran Canaria. If you are planning your future vacations, you should read this article to discover the best things to do in Gran Canaria.

8 things to do in Gran Canaria

If the island of Gran Canaria stands out for something, it is for offering a multitude of plans to all types of travelers. You can enjoy and visit small fishing villages, get lost in the wild nature of its beaches, and walk through the volcanic rock formations. So that you can discover everything to see in Gran Canaria, we will comment on 8 things to do on this island.

Maspalomas Dunes

The first plan could not be other than the Maspalomas Dunes. It is undoubtedly one of the best places since it is considered one of the most spectacular natural sites on the island. It is located on the southern side of the island and is a protected nature reserve. We wanted to include it as the first point since walking through the dunes is one of the things that you cannot miss in Gran Canaria. Also, if you are a plant person, make sure to visit the Botanic Garden in Maspalomas, which has a great variety of plants.

Puerto de Mogan

From the Dunes of Maspalomas we go to Puerto de Mogan. If before we mentioned one of the most spectacular natural parks, now we recommend one of the most picturesque towns. Puerto de Mogán is a curious fishing village that stands out above all for its beautiful port and because all the streets are full of small white houses with fishing details. This town is entirely dedicated to tourism so you can find a large number of restaurants, venues, and large hotels.

Roque Nublo

If you like nature, Roque Nublo is another of the natural places that you cannot miss. Both the Nublo rural park and the Roque Nublo are located in the center of the island and have become one of the most iconic places in Gran Canaria.

If you are into hiking, you can walk along the trails and discover one of the most incredible places until you reach Roque Nublo, a volcanic rock 80 meters high.

Las Palmas

Strolling through Las Palmas is another of the plans that could not be missing from this list. Las Palmas is Gran Canaria’s capital and therefore, it is one of the main places you should visit.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a great city and it offers many things to see and discover. Without a doubt, you will have to walk and lose yourself in its colorful streets to discover the best corners of the city until you reach the Cathedral of the Canary Islands, considered one of the most important religious monuments.

Las Palmas is one of the best places to stay in Gran Canaria because from there you can make different day trips to the towns and beaches we recommend. The capital is also a great place to practice water sports, such as scuba diving and kitesurfing.

Tejeda

Tejeda is another of the towns that you cannot miss if you visit Gran Canaria since it is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. Tejeda stands out above all for perfectly exemplifying the traditional Canarian architecture. As in all the towns on this list, we recommend that you get lost in its streets of white houses so that you can discover for yourself the most beautiful corners of this city.

Agaete

The next place we want to comment on is Agaete, as it is the perfect place to enjoy one of the most beautiful terraces in the world. Agaete is a coastal landscape located to the west and therefore, it is the best place to see how the sun goes behind the ocean. In addition, you will not only be able to enjoy one of the best sunsets but you will also be able to walk and discover a fishing village that, although it lives from tourism, also does it mainly from fishing. Make sure to try some delicious fish dishes!

Teror

If you enjoy discovering charming towns in Spain, Teror is undoubtedly another of the places that you have to include in your travel plan. We simply recommend that you pass through Teror very calmly so that you get lost and enjoy its beautiful streets.

Beaches of Gran Canario

As you have seen in this article, Gran Canaria is much more than beaches, even so, we could not fail to include in this article some of the best beaches you can find on this island. In addition to Maspalomas, you can find beaches such as Güi Güi, which stands out for being one of the most virgin and maintaining the wild character of the landscapes of Gran Canaria. Or also, you can enjoy Tufia and Aguadulce beaches, which are located next to each other. These two beaches are in slightly hidden places so they are perfect to visit. Finally, you should not miss the Salinas beach either, which is located in Agaete and is the favorite of many people for its natural pools.
