04_01

Surely The Witcher series sounds familiar to you because it has triumphed on Netflix and will continue to do so. Before the first season was released, it was already known that this series would have a second season and its success has only reaffirmed this. The recording of the second season had to be postponed due to the coronavirus, but since last August it has already been recorded again and that means that the second season is getting closer and closer.

In case you are one of those few people who still do not know what The Witcher is about, we will briefly tell you what it is. It is a series of drama and dark fantasy based on the books by the writer Andrzej Sapkowski that relate the adventures of the monster hunter Geralt of Rivia on the Continent, the country where the series takes place and where humans, elves and other creatures live.

If, on the other hand, you are one of those many people who cannot wait any longer, read on to find out everything about the second season: when it opens, the trailer and much more.

When is the Witcher season 2 release date?

Because the filming of the second season has been delayed, there is still no exact date on the premiere of this new season. Although Netflix has not yet revealed the official date, it has been confirmed that it will be in the next year 2021.

Viewers have already drawn their own conclusions. The production and post production of the first season have been done in 14 months from when filming began until it was released on the streaming platform. In this way, if the production of this second season has been made from February 2020, it will be available according to these calculations for the spring of 2021.

The Witcher Season 2: cast and new characters

After many rumors and leaks, Netflix preferred to do official cast confirming much of the rumors. Many of the characters that already appeared in the first season, in this continuation, will continue to appear. In this way, Henry Cavill will continue as Geralt, Freya Allan will remain as Ciri, Anya Chalotraas Yennefer, Joey Batey as, JaskierMimi Ndiweni as Fringilla …

Among the new characters, the appearance of Kristofer Hivju, a well-known actor, stands out above all for playing Tormund Giantsbane in Game of Thrones. Other actors who will also participate in this second season are Yasen Atour (Coën), Paul Bullion (Lambert), Thue Ersted Rasmussen (Eskel), Aisha Fabienne Ross (Lydia), Agnes Bjorn (Vereena) and Mecia Simson (Francesca) among others.

News of the trailer?

At the moment, as very little of the series has yet been shot, it has not been possible to develop a trailer. Even so, on August 26 as a reward for the delay of the series, Netflix announced that a documentary was available in which viewers can see how the series is recorded.

In the 30-minute documentary, interviews with the different characters that make up the cast and crew are shown, as well as images that have never been seen.

Where is being filmed The Witcher season 2 and what is the plot?

As has already been seen in the first season The Witcher has numerous scenes recorded in well-known settings, it is for this reason that the locations where the series is filmed cause great expectation among the followers of the series.

Although Netflix has not confirmed all the locations, it has stated that the principal photography of the second season will take place in London although the specific filming locations are not yet known. At the moment, no more locations have been announced although shooting in parts of Spain such as the Canary Islands does not stand out.

In this second season, plots that were not finished in the first season will continue to be developed, although the creators will correct aspects of this first part. On the one hand, the second season will not be so confusing in the timeline since it will not only be inspired by the books but will also contribute new stories to the plot to get to be a series with its own identity.

In this new season, the characters of Cahir and Fringilla will have more prominence in the conflict with Nilfgaard and also, there will be a different vision of the fighters Cahir (Eamon Farren) and Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni), taking them both out of the position of villains.

How many seasons will there be?

There are rumors that The Witcher could have up to 7 seasons on Netflix. In numerous interviews Laura Hisrich, the director of the series, has stated that they are working on developing the characters even more without tiring the viewer, adapting all the magic and narration of the books to this new medium.

Despite the fact that a series of stories has been worked through which 7 seasons can be made, the creators of the series prefer to focus on each of the seasons in order to experience each of the plots and always keep the viewer pending.
