Space cakes truly live up to their name. It’s like having your favorite cake but with a magical touch of herb! Almost every coffee shop in Amsterdam has some type of space cake on their menu, and more people are daring to try them to experience a discreet and delicious edible high.
The good news is you don’t need to make a trip there to enjoy them. With simple ingredients and a couple of free hours, you can prepare this delicious cannabis delight in the comfort of your home.
What’s included in a marijuana cake
The space cake includes our beloved Mary Jane as the main ingredient, along with a touch of milk, sugar, and butter. While the cake part of the recipe is quite straightforward, what many find more challenging is determining the right amount of herb. Primarily, this depends on personal preferences, but the following proportions are a good starting point.
It’s essential to remember that you can always start with a smaller portion, especially if you’re concerned about potency. Later, we’ll address details about the potency of space cakes, but the effects of edibles are famous for catching even the most experienced smokers off guard. So, when in doubt, better go slow!

1¾ teaspoons of baking powder

½ teaspoon of salt
Additional options to customize according to your taste:

Cocoa powder

Vanilla extract

Buttercream

Necessary utensils:
-
Grinder (to grind the marijuana)
-
Mixing bowl
-
Spatula or mixing spoon
-
Cake baking mold
-
Non-stick spray or parchment paper
-
Oven
-
Microwave
-
Small bowl
-
Toothpick (to check for oneness)
-
Rack (optional, for cooling the cake)
Procedure:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 110°C. Place the ground marijuana in an oven-safe, airtight container and heat it for 30 minutes. This step carboxylates the marijuana, ensuring that all cannabinoids are bioavailable.
Step 2: Remove the carboxylated marijuana and let it cool. Then, increase the oven temperature to 190°C.
Step 3: While waiting for the oven to reach the temperature, melt the butter in the microwave for 20 seconds, until it has a pasty and thick consistency.
Step 4: Mix the butter well with the marijuana.
Step 5: Add to the bowl the sugar, sifted flour, milk, marijuana butter, eggs, and any other ingredients you want for the cake. Mix until you get a uniform and pleasant dough. If the homogeneous mixture is too dry, add a little milk; if it’s too wet, add a bit more flour.
Step 6: Grease the mold with spray or simply cover it with parchment paper.
Step 7: Pour the mixture carefully into the mold and spread it evenly.
Step 8: Place the mold in the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
Step 9: After 25 minutes, insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, it’s ready. If the batter sticks, let it bake for another 5 minutes. Repeat as necessary.
Step 10: Allow the marijuana cake to cool for about 20 minutes in the mold. Then, turn it upside down onto a rack and remove it from the mold. Let it cool for another half an hour.
Step 11: Once cooled, decorate the cake to your liking. Buttercream icing is an excellent choice.
Step 12: Admire the beauty of your space cake and get ready to enjoy one of the tastiest and mind-bending edibles out there.
And now… Enjoy!
