WHY ARE HONEYBEES ENDANGERED? THE MAIN REASONS

Honey Bees, along with other insects that are closely related to them, are threatened and endangered.

Bee species: the most important living creature on the planet

Honeybee colonies, although few people know it, are vital to life on planet Earth. The pollinating animals feed by collecting pollen from plants on their legs, fur, and antennae and then carrying it back to the hive. It happens that as they go from flower to flower, the bees leave a part of the collected pollen behind, which functions as a reproductive method that helps vegetation to continue to grow.

So relativizing the scope is dangerous because, in this way, we are constantly endangering the ecosystem and, therefore, this species that feeds on natural life to maintain its circle of survival and that with its contribution help to reproduce more plants that provide more oxygen, an essential substance for breathing.   

The figures showing the extinction of  bee colonies are frightening and warn of the importance of making an urgent paradigm shift in this regard: 

• The destruction of the bees’ natural environment. 
• The appearance of diseases and parasites that kill the bee population.
• The growing population of predatory species, such as the Asian wasp or Vespa velutina.
• Climate change is accelerating, increasing bee habitat loss.
• Pesticides that spray wildlife are widely used in the agricultural sector and generate a colony collapse disorder.

What would happen if bees become extinct? 

Now, what are the consequences of the disappearance of bees? Many of them. 

• Deficiency in pollination
• Reduced honey production in the hives, 
• More unstable crop cultivation 
• Reduction of wild fruits available in the wild. 
• Loss of wild plants and species
• The disappearance of beekeeping traditions.
• Loss of the labor resources involved in the practice of beekeeping. 

From the tangible to and intangible, bees play a central role in the cycle of nature, and that’s why we should be acting on saving the bees.

Their main function as pollinators makes them an essential resource because as the base of the chain, these insects are the food for many mammalian species, which in turn are the food for others and so on until they form a wheel that turns and turns and which, if we do not act in the short term, will collapse.
