DONDA 2: KANYE WEST NEW ALBUM IS OUT!
We love to talk about news in the world of music, so today we want to talk about Kanye West’s new album: ‘Donda 2’ Do you want to know where to listen to Kanye’s new album?
“It will only be available on my platform”
Kanye West’s name has been circulating on social media for days, but not exactly because of his music. The rapper has been involved in a public confrontation with Kim Kardashian, the mother of his children. But that hasn’t stopped the artist from continuing to develop his professional projects and he is in the final stages of releasing Donda 2, his next album. The surprise? That it can only be played on a platform created by Kanye West himself!
“Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, Stem Player. Not on Apple, Amazon, Spotify, or YouTube,” he began on his Instagram profile. “Today, artists receive only 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to break free from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own”. A statement that would make it clear why he has been mulling over this decision for some time.
“I feel the same feeling as when I moved to New York to make it in music,” he continued. “I didn’t know what was going to happen, but I knew I had to move. After 10 albums, I turned down a $100 million contract with Apple. Nobody can pay me to be disrespected. We set our own price for our art. Tech companies made music practically free, so if you don’t merchandise or tour… you don’t eat. I’m willing to die on my feet because I’m not going to live on my knees anymore. I run this company 100%, I don’t have to ask permission,” he concluded.
How much does Kanye West’s new gadget cost?
Following his modus operandi of sharing/deleting Instagram posts, Ye released an image – already non-existent on his profile – in the text of which he claimed that the sales rate of the device in question had surpassed the million-dollar mark in just 12 hours. “God is good. Thank you for taking this journey”. So as the rapper made clear, if you want to invest in his project and be one of the listeners to his new album, you’ll have to get your hands on Stem Player. The price? Around 200 dollars.
This eagerness to become independent from the flows of the record industry is not Ye’s first. Back in 2016, the rapper launched The Life of Pablo through Tidal, a platform that maintains its activity thanks to the support of creators. The message was the same: he would not mis-sell his music through streaming apps. But a few months later, the album ended up on Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play. Will the same happen with “Donda 2”, Kanye West’s new album?
