THE LAST OF US CAST: ALL ABOUT THIS HBO SERIES
The Last of Us was undoubtedly the premiere of the year. What began as a video game became a television hit broadcast on HBO.
The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, tells the story of a world that is affected by a great epidemic that has disrupted its life due to the spread of cordyceps, a fungus that controls the motor and brain functions of human beings, transforming them not only into cannibals but also into the terror of humanity whose values have been completely upended.
The Last of Us TV series: what is it about?
This is how we will see Joel, who works as a smuggler until he receives an irresistible offer that allows him to win a shipment of weapons in exchange for guarding a girl to safety.
On the way, the teenage girl, Bella Ramsey as Ellie Williams, is bitten (and supposedly infected with the disease), but shows no signs of contagion, so she becomes a possible cure for the epidemic.
How many episodes does The Last of Us have?
The series, which airs on HBO, has 9 chapters where the whole story unfolds and grips you minute by minute.
Fantasy, reality, danger, tension, and suspense are the condiments that characterize it and make it a gripping series.
The Last of Us series: the luxury cast
Of course, the series exquisitely stars a repertoire of deluxe actors and actresses.
Pedro Pascal as Joel
We already love him for The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal is the main protagonist of the series and the great hero. Joel was born in Texas and had a daughter named Sarah when he was very young, and he is one of the survivors of the first outbreak of infections. After the death of his daughter, Joel’s character changes, and he becomes an unfriendly and antisocial person, but he knows how to show his vulnerable side throughout the series.
Ellie is Bella Ramsey
The other protagonist of the series. Ellie is a 14-year-old girl who seems to be immune to the fungus infection, since after being bitten and “supposedly” infected, she shows that she has none of the after-effects attributed to the disease. Her character is somewhat dark, because she has lived in confinement, and this trait comes to the fore in the episode when they emerge from quarantine.
Merle Dandridge as Marlene
Marlene is the leader of Fireflies, the revolutionary group that fights against the military who keep the area quarantined. She is the one who introduces Ellie to Joel and Tess as the person who can save the world.
Anna Torv as Tess
She is one of the survivors and Joel’s partner. They met in the Boston quarantine area and are both smugglers.
Tess has a very short tenure in the series, but significant because she sacrifices herself so that Joel and Ellie can continue, and dies after being attacked by one of the clickers.
🐉 AVAILABLE ON HBO THE NEW SERIES OF GAME OF THRONES: THE HOUSE OF THE DRAGON.
Nick Offerman as Bill
This character is a survivor who managed to run away from civilization and thus remain healthy, outside the quarantine zone.
He is very solitary, not very social, reserved, and knew how to be foresighted and store necessities, among other things. He also has an armed system of security cameras and deadly traps to avoid possible infected people.
Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller
During the series, there is a before and after quarantine and it is in the episode where Tommy appears, who is Joel’s brother, and Joel’s purpose -after losing his daughter- of fighting and survival.
Tommy was part of the Fireflies’ army, got married, and is expecting his first child.
Differences between the video game and The Last of Us, the HBO series.
The challenge of translating the narrative of a game to television can go very well or lousy, but in this case the adaptation of the successful Naughty Dog surprised and is shaping up to be THE series of this year.
But there is an inescapable reality that speaks of the differences -subtle or not-between both versions:
One of the most outstanding differences is the chronological time in which they place the series: if in the video game, the plot takes place during 2033, in the series they decided to anticipate it ten years and have it remain in 2023, which makes it coincide with the date of the premiere.
According to the prologue of the video game, the pandemic explodes in 2013, while in the series everything happens in 2003.
In the game, Tess was convinced to face alone the military forces of FEDRA, to pave the way for Joel and Ellie, but in the series, the death of this singular character becomes somewhat epic: the scene shows how the city hall explodes to wipe out the horde of infected who invaded the place and who are alerted to the presence of both protagonists.
Before dying, Tess receives a kiss from one of the infected, which condemns her to her end, transforming the scene into one of the most successful of the series.
🤩 CAST OF OBI-WAN KENOBI: THE NEW STAR WARS SERIES!
On the other hand, in the video game, the survivors wear a gas mask to avoid getting infected and protect themselves from the spores, which are a kind of suspended particles, which just by being breathed in, infect humans. During the series, you will see images of the video game as the huge fungus expanding, branching out everywhere, a detail that differs from this one because in the series the characters will not have to use the gas mask to protect themselves from them.
The scene in which Sarah is seen going to the neighbor’s house and is attacked by an old woman who is infected does not appear in the video game, but the opposite happens: it is a neighbor named Jimmy Cooper, who interrupts Joel and Sarah’s house to attack them.
On the other hand, in the video game, the accident that Joel, Tommy, and Sarah suffer when they try to escape from the city, is not caused by the fall of the plane as seen in the series, but by the crash caused by another car.
